Umahi Denies Involvement in Freezing of Ebonyi Accounts
Abakaliki — The campaign organisation of the Ebonyi State Deputy Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dave Umahi, has said the rumour that their principal is behind the freezing of the state's accounts is unfounded and tailored to paint the
candidate in bad light.
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and other related Matters (ICPC) are reportedly investigating the state government's finances.
The organisation, Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation, explained that EFCC, ICPC have the constitutional duties of checking corrupt practices at all levels of government in Nigeria.
It stressed that the reported freezing of Local Governments accounts in the state and refusal of the state government to pay the salaries of local government workers could not in any way have been caused by Umahi or his supporters.
